    Rationale for Notice Portal 

    What’s the rationale for developing an electronic noticeboard in addition to the physical board on the corridor?

    In a developing communication/media ecology we have to blend the analogue and digital. We have to do so because they are already blended by the people who are using our information and joining our discussions. The mobile phone is a constant. Facebook is always on – yes, in class as well. If we continue to limit ourselves to having one place for information where everybody has to go, we limit the possible conversation. What we have now are many places where people hang out – often, but not always, simultaneously – that’s where we need to provide the information.

    My use of RSS 

    For some time now I’ve been wanting to evangelise on the benefits of using rss (or really simple syndication) to control the tide of information coming at us as we resemble more and more terminal ants on the keyboard of life.

    For the past three years rss has been proclaimed as the tool to usher in the new era of the web. But it hasn’t really caught on. Most people think its geeky, too complicated and/or that it leads to information overload (ie more information overload). However …
